When you workout, there is usually something that you are working towards. Whether your goal is to lose 10 pounds or 100, or you are training to be the next American Ninja Warrior, you want to get the most out of your workout at your Austin fitness center. So, the staff at Lagree Studio wanted to put together a list of things that you should be doing before your megaformer workout.

Eat

Many people think that they shouldn’t eat before a workout because it will make them feel heavy and not perform their best but the truth is eating something about an hour before your workout has great benefits. Try getting some carbs and protein in your snack like a piece of toast with peanut butter. Fruits like apples, oranges and bananas are good as well because they have complex carbohydrates which are a more sustainable form of energy. A protein shake or bar is also a good choice.

Water

Drinking water is the best way to stay hydrated going into a workout. The American College of Sports Medicine suggests you drink 20 ounces of water before heading to a workout. We are not saying that you should chug 20 ounces right before working up a sweat because you can get a cramp or have to stop your workout to use the restroom. If you can drink more water than 20 ounces, go for it. Staying hydrated cannot be understated.

Supplements

Now, we aren’t saying that supplements are a necessity but there is nothing wrong with them either. They are chalked full of caffeine and amino acids that will help increase blood flow, heighten your focus and give you more energy for your megaformer workout. Taking the supplement 30 minutes before your workout (take them with water!!) means that you are at the fitness center when they are working.

Workout itinerary

Whether you use an app on your phone or write it down on a piece of paper, you need to keep track of your workouts. You want to make sure that you do more every time you head to the gym. If you have a hard time how many reps you did of something or how much weight you lifted, it is good to have something that you can reference.

Playlist

Go into any gym or fitness center and you will be hard-pressed to find someone that doesn’t have headphones in. Having a workout playlist that has upbeat, rock, rap and pop songs on it is a great way to keep you motivated and focused on your workout. If you are not one to collect music, there are always apps like Spotify and Pandora that has several hundred workout playlists that are available at the touch of a button.
